The show revisits and celebrates classic cinema, reappraises movies that may have been misunderstood or unfairly maligned and aims to uncover hidden gems. Each show will have a specific topic (e.g. a genre, time period, actor, director) and will use the device of programming a fantasy repertory cinema to select the films to be discussed.

Welcome to 'Matinee to Midnight' - a podcast for big screen enthusiasts.
For episode 7, Simon and Matthew dispense with the usual 'matinee', 'prime time' and 'midnight' movie slots in favour of the Roundhay Garden cinema's first ever movie marathon. They will be screening (and discussing) all four Monty Python movies and some additional Python related movies in addition to considering the enduring legacy of the comedy troupe and the cultural impact made by each of its members outside of the group.
Let us know your thoughts on the Monty Python filmography, what Python related movies you would programme, and suggest topics for future episodes by emailing us at matineetomidnight@outlook.com

On this show, Simon and Matthew, the co-proprietors of the fictional 2-screen repertory cinema, 'The Roundhay Garden', will be discussing and recommending movies built around a particular topic.
The topic could be a genre, an actor, an actress, a director, a year in movie history or any other theme that comes to mind.
And they will each be choosing movies from the topic to programme at the cinema to fill the schedule - a 'Matinee' movie, a 'Prime Time' movie, and a 'Midnight Movie'.
This is a film recommendation show, but the movies Simon and Matthew choose to discuss are not necessarily their favourite films on a subject. They are the films that they feel are interesting and worthy of discussion - and best fit into these programming slots.

A couple of months ago, Simon and Matthew had the absolute privilege of meeting the legendary Fred Williamson in person.
They took the opportunity to ask Fred some questions about what it was like to work with Pam Grier and the making of Bucktown. Visitors to the Roundhay Garden cinema can hear this conversation in 'Episode 106 - Foxy Lady: The Pam Grier Experience'.
In addition, Fred also recorded a short message for listeners of Matinee to Midnight.
